A lesson from the book ‘100 most influential people’

The situation in Pakistan is disturbing to many of us who love our homeland. Often, we ask each other and ourselves why is it happening? What is the solution. Why we are held in a typhoon of extremism? The answer might not be very simple but would like to bring your attention to Michael Hart’s observation which may give us a way to answer the questions.

Michael Hart wrote the legendary book ‘100 most influential people’ in which he ranked prophet Muhammad first. For me it is very interesting to see how he has defended his ranking. He emphasizes on the secular influences that prophet Muhammad had along the spiritual influences. I think being balanced in secular and spiritual aspects is what we need as a nation. Here is an excerpt from Michaels book:

“My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be question-ed by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels”.

The book provides key insights to many famous personalities and is worth reading. Here is a link for an ecopy. 100 most influencial people – Michael Hart
